Coal mine methane
Coal mine methane projects capture and destroy methane gas released due to coal mining operations, either from active mines or abandoned mine workings. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas that would otherwise vent directly into the atmosphere. These projects generate carbon credits by quantifying the volume of methane captured using a metering device, and the emissions avoided compared to a baseline scenario without intervention.
